Quantity Surveyor

Join a leading international building contractor, with a strong track record of delivering complex, high-value projects across Europe. They are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major data centre project in Belgium. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the most dynamic and fast-growing sectors in construction, alongside a high-performing team committed to excellence and innovation.


As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the financial and contractual management of the data centre in Belgium. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. Your expertise in cost management, procurement, and contract administration will ensure the success of our high-profile data centre developments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates, and budgets across all project stages
  • Lead and manage procurement processes, including tender analysis and subcontractor package awards
  • Monitor, control, and report on project expenditure to ensure delivery within approved budgets
  • Assess, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Provide proactive commercial advice and financial support to project teams
  • Identify, analyse, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and cost reports
  • Ensure accurate cost value reconciliation (CVR) and monthly commercial reporting
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms, company procedures, and statutory regulations
  • Support dispute resolution and claims management where required
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to forecast cost risks and provide strategic commercial input
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives


Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 4+ years’ post-graduate experience, ideally with a main contractor
  • Experience delivering large-scale construction projects; data centre or mission-critical experience is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and commercial management practices
  • Proven experience managing subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong financial acumen and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems
